Ogbas , as many other groups in Nigeria belong to different political parties that has emerged in Nigeria since independence, they are not monolithic and therefore has never voted for one political party as a bloc for example, during the second republic when Alhaji Shehu Shagari of the NPN was the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria. was elected to the national assembly on the NPN ticket while Senator Sir Francis J. Ellah was elected to the senate of the federal Republic of Nigeria on the NPP ticket.
