Onelga council boss vows to uplift living standards…..budgets

The
chairman of the Ogba, Egbema, Ndoni Local Council, Hon. Ochiey Chris Okey, has
reaffirmed his determination to execute development projects that would uplift
the standard of living of the people.
Hon. Okey
made the vow Friday while presenting a budget of N2,045,535.00 for the
council’s services in 2008.
The
chairman who tagged the budget a budget of continuity said the proposed amount
consists of N1,654,476,920 as recurrent expenditure while N391,058,079.40 is
for capital expenditure.
The council
boss expressed the hope that revenue projection for the council for 2008 would
be realised given the expected increase from the federation account and the
progmatic efforts of the council at boosting internally generated revenue.
He urged
the legislative assembly to give urgent attention to the budget estimates as
its earlier approval would enable the council commence the execution of tis
laudable policies and programmes.
Also
speaking, the leader of Onelga legislative Assembly Chukwudi Umesi thanked the
chairman for the articulate manner the budget presentation was made.
He promised
that the Legislative Assembly under his leadership would give the budget
estimates accelerated consideration to ensure early passage into law.
He
immediately called for a motion that would enable the house adopt the budget
estimates as a working document.
This years
budget has taken cognizance of all facts of the administration focus, we are
sure that by the special grace of God at the end of this year we shall have
cause to say that smiles has been put on the faces of our people as we take
stock.
