The
Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Oba (Eze Ogba) of
Ogbaland, Eze Chukumela Nnam Obi II has described former National President of
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Badu Godwin Woke as a dogged fighter and
activist who has committed his life to the fight against institutional
injustices in the society.
The Ogba
monarch gave the commendation when a Port Harcourt-based NGO, Global Conflict
Resolution and Hope Restoration Initiative (COCOHRIN) paid him a courtesy call
at his palace in Omoku.
The Oba
stated that the idea of conflict resolution and hope restoration which the NGO
stood for was taught provoking as it captures the sad realities in the region.
Oba Nnam
Obi said the Niger Delta region and Nigeria in general was overripe for a
reformation, stressing that unless that was done our dream of becoming one of
the leading economies of the world will remain elusive.
He
expressed worry over the lost of sense of history, culture and patriotism on
the path of Nigerian, stressing that Nigeria was presently bereft of Statesmen
and committed patriots who are concerned about the common good.
The
traditional ruler pledged the support of the traditional rulers in the state to
the NGO in carrying out its campaign of peace and development in the region.
In his
remark the President of the NGO, Comrade Woke said the body was at the Oba’s
palace to seek his royal consent and support.
